Please support my volunteer work in a refugee camp

In the first week of July, I will be flying to Lesvos, Greece for a week. Not for holiday purposes though. I am volunteering with the Dutch humanitarian organisation Because We Carry to help them with their day-to-day work in the refugee camp: Kara Tepe Campus.

There are still people fleeing war zones and other humanitarian disaster areas, in the hope of finding a safe haven, away from what they call home. They find a (hopefully) temporary home on Lesvos. Volunteers help to provide them with their basic needs: food, shelter, dry clothes after arriving on the inhospitable shore and most of all, genuine human interaction. And I will be one of those volunteers, for the week that I am there.

I’ve purchased my plane ticket and accommodation will be on site. Besides donating my time and energy, I am also raising money to help fund the camps’ basic needs for the week that I am staying there. My goal is to reach €1.500,- and this is where I could really use your help.

I am taking donations as of now, which I will transfer to Because We Carry when I go to Lesvos so that they can put it to good use. If you would like to help me, you can either select an amount of your choice to donate or shop in my store of which 75% of total revenue will be donated.

Please, spread this far and wide, reaching as many people as possible so that they could help me, help the people in need.

PS.

I am currently looking into ways of documenting the work I will be doing, so that upon returning I can create a dedicated publication of my time in the refugee camp or a story in the upcoming issue of Let’s Explore Magazine. Because of security reasons, this is not a simple endeavour. If a dedicated publication gets made though, 100% of its profits will go to back into the projects of Because We Carry.
